What will you be doing?

Didn’t that sound so ominous? It’s likely that we’ll make a repeat of last year. Sleeping baby. Movies. Dinner. Fancy soda.
Hopefully this year I’ll be able to make it past ten. Last year, we spent New Years Eve curled up on the couch eating pizza, sipping Izzies, and watching 88 Minutes and Kung Fu Panda (I know…we covered the spectrum). We had just gotten back from South Carolina the day before, so I feel asleep watching Jack Black beat up bad guys.
I remember a time when I had to have something to do on New Years Eve. I mean, who didn’t have somewhere cool to go? Uh…me. Looking back I don’t even remember most of what I did. Babysitting. Church parties. Game nights. Never a big, get all dressed up bash. One year…that’d be fun. Not that all the others weren’t fun…except maybe babysitting. But I’d love to just have some place to get dressed a little fancy and have a reason to wear heels would be nice, but today I’m looking forward to riding into 2010 in front of the TV with my favorite man.
Thanks to RedBox we can rent a little cheaper this year. I think we’re going to pick 1 or 2 movies each. The menu…don’t know yet. The drinks…hmmm? A little planning seems to be in order. The movies…here’s what our top picks are:
Joe
District 9
Terminator Salvation
Gran Tornino
Inglorious Bastards
Jessica
The Proposal
Confessions of a Shopaholic
Bride Wars
Slumdog Millionare
Obviously, it’s guy blow-up-stuff, aliens, and “I’ll kill you” movies versus the standard chick flick flare (minus the Slumdog)…any suggestions? Any you’ve seen and just weren’t worth it?
How about dinner? I’m thinking pizza…sounds simple enough.

When you think about it, New Years Eve is kind of a weird holiday. After all, isn’t everyday the beginning of a new year?
I do look forward to watching some movies though. It should rock my socks off.
I’ve always just hung out with some friends on New Year’s- nothing big either….next year, we should either find or plan a fancy party
Put it on your 30 before 30 list!
We’re going to do the same thing with some friends in town here- Isaac’s accountability partner got married this month, so we finally get to meet Heather- I tried to get her to sign up for leadership, but I think it was closed at that point…
As for the movies, SLUMDOG SLUMDOG SLUMDOG. It is fanastic!!!! The music will also blow you away. Bride Wars is predictable, but most chick flicks are…and the Proposal was MUCH funnier than I expected. I haven’t seen the other ones, but I’ve heard lots of good things about Gran Torino…
PS- COME BACK TO LOUISVILLE. I miss your mug.
#30 – Fancy party.
You’ll have to wait and see what our movies ended up being, but I am so ready to be back home. Even if it’s cold. I want my stuff and my new friends!
