Ultimate Blog Party 2010

It’s that time of year again–5 Minutes for Mom’s Ultimate Blog Party!

I’m so glad you’re joining in on the party! You are joining in—aren’t you? It’s always fun to meet new bloggers and discover their blogs.

So…who am I?

I’m Jessica.

I am a twenty-something, wife to Joe, and mother to Joe Jr. (whom we call Joey). I spend my days (mostly) at home with my son. I truly enjoy the job of a homemaker and am blessed to have such a wonderful family, a husband who loves me and the most adorable little boy in the world.

My husband and I have been married since March 17th 2007. Right now, Louisville is home while my husband pursues his M.Div. at  Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Before that we hailed from San Diego, where Joe was born and raised. I grew up in the Marine Corps and call myself a Southern girl—I’ve lived the longest in South Carolina, Southern California, and Southern Japan.

Random things: I love taking pictures, general craftiness, and reading–Jane Austen has a special place in my heart. I’ve set up a list of 52 things I want to do in 2010 and I’m working on my 30 Before 30 list. Oh…and in 2 weeks I’m running a half-marathon. If you’d told me that 6 months ago I’d have told you “Yeah, right.” But it’s happening.

This is my blog.

Reflections of a Princess is where I ponder, muse, sometimes rant, and reflect on living authentically, purposefully, and passionately in pursuit of Christ.

I’m a recovering perfection…just ask anyone in my family and they’ll tell you. I was the kid who’d know if someone touched  my pillow. Sad, but true.

I still struggle daily with setting aside my old self and living in the grace of Jesus. But that is my goal, to honor Christ and show Him to the world as worthy of all glory, honor, and praise.

My heart is for encouraging and equipping women to live biblically, to pursue God as life and honor him for what he is worth. Though all too often fear, perfectionism, and self-consciousness get in the way. I want to do the things God has called me to do, but I stumble and hide believing the lies that I’m not good enough and there’s someone else out there who’ll do a better job.

But I’m here embracing a new seasonBeing real and living life.

Alright, let’s get to know each other…

Tell me…

  • So…why’d you start a blog?
  • What’s one thing you’re passionate about and love to share?
  • Share an interesting tidbit. For example, this evening I asked my husband if we could name a son Darcy (yes, as in Mr. Darcy. I’m a proud Janeite!), he said no. So I asked if Fitzwilliam would work, and he said yes!

Where you can find me…

You can follow me on Twitter @Jess_Reflects, join my Facebook fan page, or send me an e-mail at jessica @ reflectionsofaprincess dot com.

And come October you can find me at The Relevant Conference! If you haven’t already, you should definitely check it out!

Oh! On Monday, I shared a book that has really encouraged me in my role as wife and mother and I’m giving a away a copy! To learn more check out my giveaway post.

Crashing the party just a bit early!

I started blogging because I love to write and I am going through an “early mid-life crisis” where I basically want to change just about everything!

Lately, my passion is “the little pink Bible”. I don’t know why that is, but I bought one for me and then one for a friend, and I’ve told countless others about it. I blogged about it at one point. Seriously, who wouldn’t love the Word wrapped in two tone pink leather?? Plus, there are amazing mini studies throughout. (see, there I go again)

Interesting tidbit… my business partner and I have known each other for over 20 years, lost touch for many of those, and recently found our way together.

Hi there!

I started blogging to tell the story of my day-to-day life, not only so I don’t forget it, but so that maybe my experience can help someone else.

I am really passionate about encouraging and helping others, especially when situations are very difficult and painful.

An interesting tidbit about me????? It’s hard for me NOT to smile when I see another person. It just comes naturally for me to smile at random passers-by! A little creepy, probably.

I love your logo, by the way!

Rachel – I try to remember to smile at people I pass by, but sometimes I too wonder if I look more creepy than friendly! BTW, my brother’s a graphic designer and he did my logo. I love it too!

Happy UBP day! I started blogging because I couldn’t find a part-time job I liked and wanted to help other moms who are raising children with autism. I am passionate about helping my daughter realize her full potential. I don’t know if this is interesting, but I can’t believe I didn’t start blogging sooner considering how much I love the web!

You have a lovely blog – both the look and the purpose.

To answer your questions (great idea, by the way), I started blogging to have my own space to explore my thoughts and ended up getting way more out of it than I ever thought possible!

I am another autism mom who is passionate about her son and to help other parents who are overwhelmed and looking for encouragement and information. I finally ended up starting this personal blog to recover a bit of my own space from what my original blog morphed into!

And, finally, I love Jane Austen as well but, although I love Mr. Darcy, my favorite book of hers is Persuasion.

Enjoy the party!

It’s great that you have such purpose in your blogging! As for Austen…I started with Mansfield Park and then P&P, but Persuasion is becoming a favorite. Thanks for stopping by!

Stopping in from the UBP of course!! Hope to see you at ‘my place’!

Now see, if I had been your big sister, I would’ve intentionally gone and touched your pillow just to test the theory. Sorry! LOL Being a believer, it means we’ll struggle daily to put aside our old selves. That’s just the way it is. Satan will always tempt us in one way or another to go a direction that’s different from the Lord. The 2 lists you’re working on this year & b4 you’re 30 are awesome. I’m lucky to remember to get up and get the boys off to school most days! *grin*

I started my blog WbW to review/giveaway Christian books. Still do, but it became a product review site and more than I expected so I’ve created a new site so that I can get back my personal/book review site back to what it was. Marvelous Mom Reviews is my other site that’s somewhat fledgling.

Hmmm. I’m not passionate about much. Sad, isn’t it. Think it’s part of my ADD. I love reading so I guess that’s what I’d have to go with. Christian reading to be more specific.

A tidbit about me…I lived in Spain for a year when I was in 9th grade.

Hhmm, I started blogging because I’ve always loved to write and I felt it’s time to do it again. I ‘m still finding my passion so I can’t tell yet.
