Ashely has become such a dear friend to me over the last year. We first met through blogging and have become even closer when her family moved to Louisville. She’s such a blessing and I so enjoy her perspective. She has much to offer…

I can easily get distracted, let me rephrase that, I can very easily get distracted.
Days when the car won’t start.
Days when I feel so far from God.
Days when I worry about if my children are hungry or feel loved or know that I am coming for them {right around the corner}.
Days when the laundry is spilling over the edge of the basket.
Days when I struggle to see God in the midst of my life.
Those kind of days are so hard to keep my focus where it needs to be, upward. There are so many different places to look for joy, love, satisfaction, peace.
I get distracted. I look everywhere except to Christ.
I seek to find what can only be found in Him, in things that are worthless.
The truth is, in this world we will find nothing that will…allow us to experience true joy. We may experience happiness. But, that happiness will fade, quickly. There is only One person who can allow us to experience true joy.
The truth is, in this world we will find nothing that will…show us deep and undeserving love. We may know love. But, this is human love. This love has faults. There is only One person who can show us deep and undeserving love.
The truth is, in this world we will find nothing that will…make us feel truly satisfied. We may feel temporarily satisfied. But, this will not last forever. We will be hungry again. We will feel empty again. There is only One person who can make us feel truly satisfied.
The truth is, in this world we will find nothing that will…give us peace. We may feel temporary calmness. But, that sense of calm will be interrupted. There is only One person who can give us peace.
I want to look up, towards Him, toward the only One person who can give me what I am seeking. But yet, I find myself distracted so easily.
So, then the question is, how do we keep our perspective right in the day to day? In the difficult? In this world? How do we keep our perspective upwards?

Cling to Jesus.
This world is so uncertain and unstable and sin tainted. It has nothing to offer.
Cling to Jesus. Look to Him for our joy, look to Him for love, look to Him for your satisfaction, look to Him for peace.
He has all I am looking for, all I am desiring. I just need to cling to Him.
