Meet Jessica
This little place is where I ponder, muse, reflect, and occasionally rant on living the life of one called Daughter. I’m on a journey to live authentically, purposefully, and passionately in pursuit of Christ.
You’ll find that I often write about living free, meeting Jesus amid the chaos, living a beautiful life, finding your voice, all the while fleshing out fears to pursue what I would do if I knew I wouldn’t fail.
I struggle with rest, even when it comes knocking at my door. I’m a reluctant sojourner. I write about God-given significance and struggle to walk in it myself.
——-
If you met me on the street you’d probably notice my rolled up jeans and love for impractical (but cute) shoes and how I keep all this thick, wild hair tucked into a messy bun. I wear sunglasses as a headband and chapstick as my sidekick.

While most people have a hometown to hail from, I grew-up in the Marine Corps where there are no hometowns. It wasn’t always as exciting and adventurous as people seem to think. Moving every 2 to 3 years doesn’t let you dig roots too deep, but I did learn to adapt and overcome, roll with the punches, and know that no matter what country you’re in you can find signs in English.
——-
I’m wife to Joe, one extremely patience and sacrificial man, and mother to Joey and Otto, the two cutest and friendliest boys. I spend my days at home with my boys reminding myself I’m raising the next generation when dirty diapers and lack of naptimes gets to me.
I’m a contributor for The Better Mom and manage the blog for a women’s group, Koinonia, at my husband’s school.
Right now we’re making home in Louisville while my husband pursues his M.Div. at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Before that we hailed from San Diego.
——-
Oh…and you should probably know I’m a recovering perfectionist and people-pleaser. I’m just a sinner saved by grace and redemption is my favorite word.

I enjoyed reading this and learning more about you. My, for one so young, you are quite wise. I wish I spent more of my younger years serving the Lord. But we can’t go back …only forward.
I love San Diego and have spent much time there on vacations over the years. Great place and beach!
Blessings,
Debbie
I love Elisabeth Elliot too she’s a close friend of mine and she mentored me. I interviewed her daughter Valerie and will be featuring the interview on my blog at the end of the month.
I love your site and am glad I’ve found it. I will be back again.
