Top 10 Favorite All-American Songs

by Jessica on June 8, 2010

in random

This is a completely random post, but every once and awhile I get to thinking about what my favorite “all-American” songs are. Why? I have no idea. I just do.

So humor me.

I’m sure our tastes are different and it’s very likely that I’ll leave off some  super-obvious song, but….life goes on.

So…here are my favorite top ten All-American Songs:

  1. What a Wonderful World – Louis Armstrong
  2. It Don’t Mean a Thing – Duke Ellington
  3. Sing, Sing, Sing - Benny Goodman
  4. Under the Bridge – Red Hot Chili Peppers
  5. American Pie – Don McClean
  6. Don’t Stop Believing – the Glee verison (yes…I’m a gleek! But Journey’s good too!)
  7. Walking in Memphis – Marc Cohen

8. Rapper’s Delight – The Sugar Hill Gang

    9. Landslide - Fleetwood Mac

    10. Piano Man – Billy Joel

This post is linked to Oh Amanda’s Top Ten Tuesday.

Washed By the Water

by Jessica on March 10, 2010

in worship

When I first heard these guys my first thought was a Christian band trying to copy the sound of a secular artist…in particular Gavin DeGraw. I still think they sound pretty similar, but I’m being won over more and more.

What can I say? I love a little grittiness in my music.

by Jessica on December 11, 2009

in Christmas

Here’s what I’ve been listening to on my Pandora Christmas station:

Dido – On Christmas Day:

Jars of Clay – Love Came Down at Christmas:

Jars of Clay – God, Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen:

Sarah McLachlan – The First Noel/Mary, Mary:

Jewel – Hark! The Herald Angels Sing:

Jewel – The Face of Love:

Barlow Girl – For the Beauty of the Earth:

Trans-Siberian Orchestra – A Star to Follow:

Songs I love, but can’t find a video for:

Sara Groves – Peace, Peace

Jewel – I Wonder as I Wander

Songs I have heard enough of: Breath of Heaven (Mary’s Song), Mary Did You Know?, and It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Song I’ve yet to have a “perfect” version of: O Come, O Come Emmanuel

So what are your favorite Christmas songs this year?
